William "Bill" R. Conway, 80, of Putnam, CT., formerly of Buffalo, N.Y., passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Marsha A. (Piekarski) Conway, who he was happily married to for 58 years. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., he was a son of the late Leo and late Natalie (Kuzniewski) Cwiczewicz. Bill was the loving and devoted dad to Julianne McLeod and her husband Brian; proud Papa to Conner R. and Keegan R. McLeod; dear brother to Robert (Joanna) Conway, the late Carl (Glenda) Conway, late Leona (late Albert) Miller, late Nanci (late Thomas) McCarter; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In his childhood years he excelled in all sports and loved watching and rooting for the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees. He was his grandsons biggest fan cheering them on at all their sporting events. He worked for the town of Cheektowaga, N.Y., as a tax assessor for 30 years. He always believed in treating people how you would like to be treated. Every year a former employee would send him a "Best Boss" card on Bosses Day, which always made him smile.
In 2018 he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which he courageously battled for 4 ½ years. He always fought for his family and had a great team supporting him at Dana Farber led by Dr. Richard Stone. He always preached to live life because it was not a dress rehearsal and always said the only thing that matters is to love and be loved. He exemplified love with his heart of gold and was loved beyond measure by so many.
In his memory donations can be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute P.O. Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 21st at 11:00am in St. James Church, 12 Franklin St., Danielson, CT 06239. Burial will be private. Live stream will be available via Keefe Funeral Home facebook page (Keefe F Home) at 11:00am.
